Advancing Bariatric Care: NEW Product Launch and Enhanced Bariatric Range
Introducing Our New Bariatric In-Situ Comfort Care Sling and Enhanced Bariatric Range
We are proud to announce the launch of our latest innovation: the Bariatric In-Situ Comfort Care Sling.
Standard sling designs often fall short in accommodating varying bariatric body shapes, resulting in inadequate support and excessive loose fabric. Our latest addition to the Bariatric Range has been designed to overcome these challenges, offering tailored solutions that provide full support, comfort and dignity for bariatric patients.
Designed specifically to meet the unique demands of bariatric care, the sling delivers enhanced tailoring, positioning, security and comfort, while helping caregivers provide safe and effective patient transfers and care. As part of our wider bariatric portfolio, it contributes to a comprehensive transfer solution that supports better care across a variety of healthcare settings.
The development of the Bariatric In-Situ Comfort Care Sling and wider Bariatric Range has been shaped through collaboration with bariatric specialists and patients. Their valuable feedback and real-world experience have helped influence both the sling design and ongoing improvements across the range, ensuring solutions that better meet the needs of patients and healthcare professionals alike.
Key Features:
- Full Body Support – Designed to provide comfortable, full-body support for varying bariatric body shapes. The sling can be left in place for extended periods, subject to risk assessment, and features minimal seams for enhanced comfort. Detachable hip tapes are included as standard to provide additional support where required.
- Clever Tailoring – Tailored tucks in the upper section help the sling gently hug the body, improving support around the head and neck area while reducing excess fabric and improving overall fit.
- Weight-Bearing Pommel Strap – Features a supportive pommel strap with multiple attachment options, allowing greater adjustability while providing effective leg support.
- Extended Sling Length – The longer sling design helps minimise contact from the pommel strap across the abdominal area while offering increased support beneath the legs, helping to enhance overall comfort for many plus-size patients. Having the sling fit lower down the leg with no bend in the knee has been fed back to us to be a significantly more comfortable experience for most plus-size patients.
Enhancing the Bariatric Range with Innovative Fabric Technology
A key feature of the new Bariatric In-Situ Comfort Care Sling is our new fabric, exclusive to us; Silva-Spacer with COOLMAX® freshFX® EcoMade fibre technology by LYCRA®.
This advanced 3D spacer fabric gently moulds to the patient through its two-way stretch construction, helping to redistribute pressure while enhancing comfort and support. Combined with COOLMAX® technology, the fabric actively wicks moisture away from the skin to help keep patients cool, dry and comfortable during use.
The addition of COOLMAX® freshFX® EcoMade technology provides antimicrobial protection through a durable silver-ion treatment, helping to inhibit bacterial growth and reduce odours for improved freshness. Manufactured using recycled materials derived from textile waste and PET bottles, the fabric also supports our commitment to sustainability while helping to reduce environmental impact.
Alongside the launch of the new sling, we have also made improvements to our bariatric accessories. These products feature the same advanced COOLMAX® freshFX® EcoMade fibre technology and include subtle design enhancements to further improve usability and performance.
These developments demonstrate our continued commitment to incorporating advanced materials and innovative design into products that enhance both patient comfort and clinical outcomes.
Showcasing the Range with Tracey Carr
We are also delighted to showcase brand new photography of our complete bariatric product range.
The photoshoot featured respected bariatric consultant, Tracey Carr, helping us accurately represent the people who use our products. The new imagery reflects our commitment to patient-centred care while providing authentic, high quality visuals.
Tracey described our newest bariatric sling as “one of the most comfortable slings I have ever been hoisted in”, highlighting the innovative antimicrobial fabric, the thoughtful sling shape, the comfort and support it offers, and the well-considered strap placement. She praised the overall design, commenting that “every detail is clearly well thought out” and that the sling provided an “exceptionally comfortable and safe experience”.
Tracey also recognised the importance of inclusive design throughout the range, praising the consistent colourway across sizes as a thoughtful, person-centred approach that helps ensure patients are not singled out.
We were pleased to work closely with Tracey throughout the project, gaining valuable insights and feedback on the range, and taking her comments onboard. Alongside her feedback on the products themselves, she highlighted how welcomed she felt during her visit at our new premises and was particularly impressed by the thought, care and innovation that goes into our products. She was amazed by our knowledge, facilities, manufacturing processes and company culture, commenting on the passion, dedication and specialist skills demonstrated by the team throughout.
She added special thanks to our employees, Amanda Jenkins (Academy Manager), Rhiannon Oatley (Digital Media and Marketing Officer), and Julie Robertson (Technical and Product Executive) for making her feel so comfortable during her visit and throughout the photoshoot.
